Bruno Koller started Karate in 1968, in the dojo of Peter von Rotz.

From 1975 to 1977 Bruno Koller lived in Japan, the motherland of Karate, to gain deeper insight into Martial arts. During two years he trained Karate and Kendo on regular daily base.

During the years to follow he visited Japan frequently to for training with the great masters, e.g. with Yuji Sato, Hiroshi Shoji and Tetsuhiko Asai – members of the top league of the "Japan Karate Association".

In 1977 Bruno Koller opened his Dojo for Karate and Kendo in Lucerne.

Bruno Koller learned that the Karate of Tetsuhiko Asai was an important step forward as it broke open rigid structures and brought in new inputs into Shotokan Karate. Nowadays this type of Karate is instructed within the IJKA, (International Japan Karate Association) around the world.

Since many years Bruno Koller is invited to Gashukus, camps and events to teach IJKA Karate. He is am member of the Shiankei and also Chief Instructor for Switzerland and Europe
